Rio Carnival & the Costa Verde

This complete Rio Carnival experience will take you from the dizzy heights of Corcovado & Sugarloaf mountain, to the sounds of the Sambadrome & the chorus of street blocos, on to the emerald-green waters in the bay of Paraty.

Over the course of a week you'll be dazzled by the sights, sounds and colours of Brazil's most enigmatic city, you'll be fit to drop by the end of the celebrations, which will be perfectly timed for a few days of rest & relaxation.

    Watch the incredible Samba Schools parade in Rio's Sambadrome

    Experience an evening in Lapa's top samba club, with live performances, music and dancing

    Ride the train to the foot of the mighty Christ the Redeemer statue, on Corcovado mountain

Day 1

Today your Carnival experience begins, as your overnight flight arrives in Rio de Janeiro. Our local representative will greet you and drive you to your hotel, where you'll have time to settle in and explore this 'marvellous city'.

Day 2

Take a private tour around the sights of Rio, visiting Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain & the historic centre, ending the day with traditional Brazilian caipirinha. In the evening head out into Lapa for a night at a Samba club.

Day 3

Take it easy today, perhaps go for a paddle in the sea or top up your tan, because tonight you'll be heading to the Sambadrome to watch the Samba Schools parade.

Mon 3 Mar

Day 4

It's likely you'll need a bit of a lie in today, as the Sambadrome parades go on well into the early hours. Once you're up and about, enjoy a free day to explore Rio's parks or perhaps join a street bloco. There is an option to return to the Sambadrome this evening, either for a second visit or to join the parade yourself.

Day 5

Time for a chance of pace, this morning you'll bid farewell to Rio and take a transfer to the Costa Verde, enjoy the lush green scenery, as you make your way to Paraty, a lovely UNESCO heritage town.

Day 6

Take an optional Schooner Cruise around the emerald-green waters of Paraty Bay. Stopping off at snorkelling spots along the way, you'll have a chance to swim with tropical fish.

Day 7

Today is a free day for you to enjoy Paraty. Perhaps explore the waterfalls on a 4x4 ride, go horse riding or go for a paddle in the sea. We can help you make any arrangements you need.

Day 8

Make the most of a leisurely breakfast, take stroll on the beach and savour your final few hours in Brazil. We'll transfer you to the airport for your evening flight home. Your flight arrives in London on Saturday 8th March.
